Introduction

A string quartet is the perfect way to add a classical touch to your wedding or special event. A quartet is comprised of two violins, a viola, and a cello and has the fullest sound and widest selection of music available.

Another option is a string trio which is comprised of two violins and a cello. A trio does not have quite the fullness of sound compared to a quartet but is a less expensive option for events where just classical music is desired. Our extensive selections of pop covers are arranged only for quartet.

A string duet is also available with a violin and a cello. This works well for intimate settings and is the lowest cost option. 

Kansas City Strings specializes in performing for weddings, receptions, cocktail hours, Christmas parties, and other special events. 

We are based in Shawnee, Kansas and perform for events all over the Kansas City metro area. We often travel to areas outside of Kansas City as well.

We enjoy playing for outdoor weddings and have high quality instrument microphones and amplification equipment if needed. 

We offer a wide variety of musical styles and selections including traditional wedding music, classical, sacred, Broadway show tunes, movie themes, jazz, and pop arrangements.

For weddings, we include a planning session where the founder, Joe Komer, meets with you personally. He'll help you choose just the right music selections for your special day. At the end of the session he provides a printout of your music program.

History

Kansas City Strings was formed in 2004 by Joe Komer. He has been playing for weddings in Kansas City for over 20 years. His goal of the group was to play with some of the finest string musicians in Kansas City in groups ranging from quartets to duets. 

Kansas City Strings includes members who play with the Kansas City Symphony, St. Joseph Symphony, the Kansas City Philharmonia, Kansas City Civic Orchestra, Lenexa Community Orchestra, and many other groups. Many of the members teach music both privately or with universities. All of the members have played for hundreds of weddings and receptions as well as played with touring groups such as Josh Groban, Evanescence, Mannheim Steamroller, and the Trans-Siberian Orchestra.
